OK. So I live in a hub city for Northwest Airlines which means I don’t have a ton of other choices. Well, they have finally done it. I am going out of my way to fly anything but Northwest from now on.

Not only do they suck, treat their employees poorly, not manage their business well, (i.e. govt. supplemented, complain about low cost airlines….) but they made me mad.

They sent me a promotion and I fulfilled the terms, but not really. You see there was small print. I didn’t pay enough for the flights I booked therefore I wasn’t eligible for the promotion.

Now it’s not like they communicated that very well. It was again in fine print. AND in airline code. So kudos to you! You got me to buy 2 flights that I would’ve booked through other carriers (on principle) but you won’t get me again.

I’m sorry if I offend anyone who works for Northwest, but I have to tell you, if you do, you should run.

They suck. I’m done. I’m sure that doesn’t mean much to them. The customer service agent that I politely communicated the fact that I’m not going to choose them for flying anymore was pretty non-plussed and reitereated it was in fact my fault that I didn’t read the fine print or work to understand the airline code.

Yeah, well screw you. It’s all about choices and when you are competing at the level they need to compete at, they shouldn’t mess with people. I wouldn’t be angry if they hadn’t made sketchy promises they won’t live up to.

Now, I am.

It’s not just about what the government in our country wants anymore. If we say something can’t be done, it’s ok. Another country is probably making it happen. The only sad part is that we are only hurting ourselves by cutting ourselves off from science and discovery. Things that inspire man and change the world. So, go ahead and try to make us all behave in a satisfactory manner according to your very zealous, and vocal evangelical followers. The rest of the world doesn’t have to listen to you! And all signs point to the fact that they aren’t listening now, nor will they be in the near future.

I am so sick of this.

“Reuters: Bush would veto House bill on stem cells.
President George W. Bush (L) is applauded by the Rev. Charles Chaput (R), archbishop of Denver, as he departs the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton, May 20, 2005. Bush asked attendees to ‘pray that America uses the gift of freedom to build a culture of life. (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)”

YAY, you’re religious, good for you. God is on your side! that’s right! Truly religious people don’t wear it on their sleeve like that, seems a bit like a vexation of the spirit…..because he’s not on the side of anyone else that’s religious, just you. somehow you are THAT special.

and then,

So we’ve got this insantity going on in the Senate, boohoo why aren’t my judges getting a VOTE. Your judges have almost all been confirmed. But I know, you’re sad because you’re only hitting like what 97% of your judges getting in. And those people activists anyway, legislating from the bench DAMN THEM!

i’m the boy king!

ok, i get it.

now, can we please get back to caring about the actual freakin people in the country!

It is appalling what power has done to all of you. It’s kind of disgusting. And I don’t think that the inability of the other side to bring it down a notch doesn’t go unnoticed.

We all suck. People can just really suck. It’s sad. But I guess you have to fill your life and surround yourself away from that noise. Out of protection. That’s how they get you. When you aren’t paying attention.

UGH!

Don’t get me wrong, some of my best friends are amazing techies. They build code that makes things function in ways I could never imagine (on the back end) However, they should not ever design user experiences. The brain of a developer works in a very different manner. They don’t necessarily think about the user in a empathetic manner. They think about their system and how obviously someone should be able to figure it out. I mean of course the user spends time on all of our sites and applications and understands it’s a system that works in such a logical way….

User’s aren’t logical (necessarily) they are in a hurry and don’t spend nearly the time on something that you do! You’ve got to keep it simple, not logical, simple. I know how counter intuitive that sounds, but I should know I get lost more than most people. It is this trait that makes me that much better at the work I do.

This is a time of specialists, let us UXP people create the front and I promise I won’t write any code.

So, today sucked. It was just one of those rough days. I had a rough time gettting started. I wasn’t feeling good. My energy was low. I needed my B12 shot. I’m one of the lucky few that doesn’t absorb B12 into my blood through normal means so I have to get an injection of it every month. As I approach needing the next dose, I often start to slow down and have low energy. So that was going on.

And I wanted to have a good attitude. I tried and made it through for awhile. Then I just gave up.

Tomorrow has GOT TO BE better.

Here’s to hoping for better in the morning.

I just haven’t had anything to say to the world. I’ve been busy. I’ve been living. I’ve been taking a million photos and doing Pilates. I’ve been hanging out with friends and running errands. I guess I just let life take over.

I was reminded of why I enjoyed doing this both yesterday and today. I was having conversations with people about blogs. I was inspired by one friend and I encouraged another.

So, how can you go out and encourage someone to do something and be so undisciplined about it yourself.

I’ll tell you how. It should never be an obligation to do this. It should only be done when inspired & desired.
